Requirements are:
Literary Analysis Essay, 5 paragraphs
-3-4 pages not including works Cited, 3 outside sources- Direct quotations are required. Do not paraphrase or summarize, minimum of 4 quotation from the text and must analyze each, MLA format.
This type of assignment encourages one to think about how and why a short story was written. To successfully analyze literature, you’ll need to remember that the authors make specific choices and attempt to explain their significances.
Thesis statement is required, the theme that must be about tradition and the significance of it relating to the story.
Ask yourself what theme or main idea did the author want the reader to understand after he or she had finished reading? In what ways is the meaning conveyed? Think of the characters, tone, setting, rhythm, plot, imagery as devices or tools that help ensure that the reader “gets” the meaning that the writer intended him or her to learn. Why did the author choose these devices, in these particular ways? How does this kind of character, plot event, or type of imagery help the reader understand the theme.
