You are the supervisor in an office of 25 employees. Jim, one of your employees, approaches you for permission to date Mary, a fellow employee.
Your response should address the following:
- As the supervisor, how would you handle this situation?
- What resources did you use to guide your decision?
- What does your code of ethics and professional standards for your profession say about maintaining personal and professional boundaries in the workplace?
- What do your state’s laws say about maintaining personal and professional boundaries in the workplace?
- Is it possible to NOT have dual relationships between administrators and employees? For example, in a small rural town, an administrator and employees may have children at the same school, may attend the same church, and the like.
Your initial post must be a minimum of 250 words, not including restatement of questions or reference sections. Posts must include adequate depth and scholarly understanding of concepts that are appropriate for this level of education. They must go beyond summarizing concepts and must utilize aspects of critical thinking and advanced application. You must include references from the course textbook and at least one peer-reviewed journal article, using appropriate APA citations.
