The framers of the U.S. Constitution did not produce the document laying out the fundamental legal principles of our country within a vacuum. The delegates that met at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 understood quite well the legal and historical context of governmental authority and took into account many factors when crafting their document. In 2-3pages, discuss at least three ideas, values, or principles that the founders considered when forming what would become our Constitution.
Consider the following questions:
- What were the framers trying to establish?
- What were they trying to avoid?
- What were the predominant intellectual, social, or cultural ideas that helped shaped their views?
