Theft and Burglary Investigations week 3 Discussion 2
You described it well…the silent dread of when
might it happen. I am pleased to see you thinking this through without
allowing gender or age to alter your decisions. Many agencies do have Detectives
on call 24/7 to respond to certain crimes. Those crimes are usually
violent or high profile crimes, such as sexual assaults and homicides. I
want you to pretend this case will not have a Detective responding to the scene
and the first responding officer will be responsible for conducting the
preliminary investigation. In your opinion, will the officer detain or
arrest this suspect based on his observations?
